We are delighted to congratulate Libor Šmejkal, Jairo Sinova, and Tomas Jungwirth on receiving the 2026 EPS Europhysics Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Condensed Matter Physics. The prize recognizes their discovery of altermagnetism, a third elementary magnetic class combining ferromagnetic-like and antiferromagnetic-like characteristics. Read the EPS announcement.
